Meet Clare!!

Born and raised in England until she was 8, Clare Morrow has been breaking and training horses since she was a very young girl.  Clare, along with her mother, Elizabeth Salmon, owned and ran their farm there called Fairfield Arabians. She first entered the show ring at the age of three on her Welsh pony Minx and had a successful show career with her including sidesaddle. At the age of 6 Clare would help her mother break in Section A Welsh ponies. After moving to South Texas in 1980, Clare continued her education with her mother who was Director of the Equine Science department at Texas A&I, (now Texas A&M Kingsville). In 1986 they moved to the Dallas area where Clare pursued showing and training Arabians.

After taking a break from horses, Clare got back into it in 1997 as an amateur, and started to show her Purebred mare Pizana in Dressage. Together they won many classes and a Regional Championship in 1999. Pizana tragically died in 2000. Shortly thereafter, Clare decided to turn professional.

She had a natural aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching, having learned the 'mirrored' method of instruction from her mother, whose mentor had been the Spanish Riding School trained instructor, Charles Harris, in England. Charles Harris had also taught her mother to train horses for dressage.

Later in 2000, Clare acquired a Half Arab named MM Cylent Partner+++//. Since then, “Cy” and Clare have won numerous firsts, Arab Sport Horse Regional Championships, National & Res. National Championships, and Top Tens in Dressage, Sport Horse in Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, and Sport Horse Show Hack. Cy is now being shown at 4th level and recently scored a 66% in 4th level test 1. Clare also earned her USDF Bronze medal on Cy in the summer of 2004. She is now an 'L' graduate as well and is recommended by the USDF to judge dressage schooling shows.

Clare has trained and shown many other horses to Regional Championships, and National Top Tens for her clients, including the black stallion AJBlacEagle. At the 2004 Sport Horse Nationals in California Clare and Cylent Kysses++ won H/A Mares in Hand Res. National Champion.

Clare’s amateur and junior students have also won many classes, Regional Top Fives, Regional Championships, and National Top Tens in Dressage, Sport Horse in Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, and Sport Horse Show Hack.

Clare started judging open shows in 2001. She is very popular since she likes to help amateurs get the best from their horses, and will give them tips at the end of each class. She has also been writing a monthly column in The Arabian Horse Newspaper for the last 3 years entitled 'Ask Clare'.

Watch for Clare at class A shows and Sport Horse Regionals in the Dallas area, and at Sport Horse Nationals. Visit her stall area—look for the royal blue and white curtains with the Fairfield logo. You will get a big welcome.
